Recumbent ReCycler

Is your bicycle hurting your back, wrists, tailbone or neck?  Would you like to be able to lose weight, save money and feel healthier?  Would you like to significantly reduce or eliminate the amount of gasoline that you burn to get to work?  If your answer to one or more of these questions is yes, then you might want to try a recumbent bike, trike or quadricycle.

Several years ago I gave up cycling primarily because my bicycle was causing me pain.  In 2007  I got to try a few recumbent bikes and trikes and really enjoyed them.  In December I decided that I had gained too much weight and was spending too much money on gasoline, so I started looking for a recumbent trike that I could afford.  I eventually found one on eBay that I could squeeze into my budget and placed a bid.  I ordered a set of fenders and a rack for the trike from the same company and asked them to ship them with the trike.  When the trike arrived, it came with no instructions and the front fenders were the wrong type and were missing the special brackets needed to hold the fenders in place.  Even after several requests, the company didn't replace the missing parts, so I searched around and eventually found another company that sold a fender set that looked like it would work.  After I got those fenders, I was able to fit them to my trike.  When I first put my trike together, I didn't have a chain tool, so I brought my trike to a bike shop to have them shorten my chain to the appropriate length, but they cut the chain too short and routed the chain the wrong way.  I ended up having another shop add links to my chain, which I reinstalled myself.  A few months later the lousy plastic idler wore out and had to be replaced.  I replaced it with an aftermarket titanium idler and removed a bunch of the tubing that the chain was running through.

Because a lot of people have approached me and expressed interest in owning a recumbent trike, I have decided that I could start a business where I would help people to select the best recumbent for them, find the best deal, then assemble it for them, all for less than if they went to another bike shop and bought one.  I would also provide parts and service for very competitive rates.  I have modified bicycle accessories to make them fit on my recumbent trike, and have decided that I could do it for others as well.  I am planning to recycle some bicycles by cutting them up and welding them together into recumbent bikes.  I want to start making custom parts and accessories, and would like to eventually start designing and making custom recumbent bikes, trikes and quadricycles, as well as modular recumbents that can be ridden by as many people as the owner wants by adding segments.  I am planning to allow people who are trying to sell their used recumbents to post ads on the site, but need to figure out how to code it properly. If you live in Southeast New Hampshire or Southern Maine and would like to buy a recumbent human powered vehicle, feel free to contact me at timo.logsdon@gmail.com.
Please read my cycling journal if you would like to know more about how recumbent cycling has changed my life.
